Final exam Part#2

     It's 11th December, 2025.
It's just few days left till I become 37. I feel like I am still in 20s.
I had no idea, I became a English teacher, I had chance to look up my studying blog 10 years ago. All my Tesol course materials and my thoughts were there. I surprised that I forgot this precious blog all these years. Making excuse, simply I was busying for my PhD in Australia. Totally unforgettable times, my nose was bleeding many times and end up lying in hospital bed. Anyway, I realized that I had studied lots of theories, methods and tools at Busan University of Foreign Studies in Korea. To put up my teaching experiences and studies, I certainly would like to use in English teaching in Korea.
Firstly, to all my students, I would like to run the test so that I can see the parts of their personalities and what are their intelligence. This is very important to me, I do not want to force them , something which they can't make efforts to; or not suiting on them. I want to pull up their learning abilities to make most of it. If it right on them, they can find themselves more easily. But I know that we can't lean on 100%. However, most of intelligence test is reasonable outcome. We can't say that It's wrong.
Secondly, one of things that I would like to use is the motivation. Not just learning in Second language, but all other fields like, music, science, ballet, mathematics or even white collars in companies; they all live the life by motivation. I might say, if there is no motivation, there is no one in the world. My teacher friends are saying that there are few students in class, look not interesting in study.
Thirdly, In past, all through my school days, I only remember just half of teachers and professors in my head. The reason is that teachers who I can remind of, I had good interaction with them. The others are I barely spoke to them. Therefore, I want to use the handshake questions and answers, some of students may not like this method, but it is matter of time, if I build up friendly relationships with every single students. But at the same time, it can make deep impression in memories about what they studied in class. They have to previous study before come to class but when they get use to it, they probably feel comfortable and bring delights in class.
Fourthly, always can see trouble makers in class, they are growing up, so teacher should work on dealing with behavior issues. Make it right or do not hurting their feelings so I can lead to a good path. When 2 or 4 students are fighting, I will gather them after the class, so make them settle a bit, and talking about the happen with them. This is the proper way to know what they feel or misunderstandings each others. Moreover, for just one kid misbehaved, ask her or him to go at the corner of the class, write down the behavior fixing plan. This kid will think hard by himself and realized what he has done.
Lastly, for teenagers, I think that they have a lot of things want to TALK about with friends, even though they see 5 days in every week. When the class became out of control, I will not yelling or shouting at them but make wooden face and stop talking. I think just waiting is the answer. So it’s called quieting classroom, students will feel odd when teacher doesn’t say anything. Make them think and I protect my throats.

These are my top five methods, When I get used to them, I will use other good teaching tools and methods to my students. I can’t wait!

#14 Tesol assignment

Speaker's corner.>>>>>

It was so embarrassing to watch my videos though it was good chance to see my speaking style and to know   what to fix in bad habits. Something that I had to think well and  delivering was difficult in short time, that      made me mumbling and stammer also speak in chunks. I had to work on thinking training and speaking. Of  course, learning new words expressions. But I think I make good eye contacts with others and not afraid to talk  to people in English.

#13 Tesol-teach tips odds & ends

What thoughts did you have about the specific things shown in the videos?
After watching videos, I thought , these were all easy to miss. Things like teacher’s teaching behaviors towards to students for example, movement, soft loud clear voice, how to capture students attention and reinforce lesson while making a personal connection with each students by firm handshakes.

·                     Starting the Lesson with a Bang
·                     Using Guessing Activities
·                     Handshake Q & A
·                     Fishbowl
·                     Dialogue Circles
·                     Voice Projection
·                     Giving Clear Instructions
·                     Teacher Movement and Positioning
·                     Using Gestures and Nonverbal Communication
·                     Staying Focused on Teaching and Not Being Distracted
·                     Dealing with Behavior Issues

What systems of behavior management/discipline do/will you use in your teaching?
It was really valuable time to watch all videos and also it was great ways of teaching that I’d like to use them all in my future teaching class. But three things that I love to use are::
firstly, Sign language! It was so adorable when kindergarten students made eye contact with teacher to conversation and make small signs with using tiny hand. Of course, it’s really practical as well, not just interrupting class or when teacher talking to other, but also ,I think that it could be special class bonding with teacher. I can’t wait to make my own sign language with my little students. Secondly, Behavior action plan, If I work at public school or tutoring with group of students, I am sure that this will help to students’ misbehavior. They actually think over what they have done so then how they can fix themselves about their bad actions. Lastly, using dialogue circle, I agreed with the idea that students want to share their personal story with students, when they speak all over the place, then it will hard to get start the academic lesson, that’s why I liked it. Students can share and listen each others story or thinking with teacher and teacher can find out their thinking and feelings for today. This leads the teaching of that day. This could reduce students’ misunderstanding and resolving conflicts together.

#12 Tesol Presentation Tools

At THE COMPUTER LAB, we looked over presentation tools for teachers.
There was something that I never knew before, and it was really super great tool.
It was a far different from the old classic Micro-software program.
Its called Powtoon, we can write script, record voice and action visual picture on the powtoon. we all can be very artistic people.
Also, either create new own powtoon or template

here's the website
            https://www.powtoon.com/

social networking! It helps me to get heaps of English information
Go to google+ and join the community
The one that I loved was --->http://www.usingenglish.com/
There's a Q&A section so all English teachers or students can ask each others and get answers - discuss forum

#10 Enjoyed and useful [learningcall.net]

As soon as I checked out the [learingingcall.net site], I had no idea to where I start ,
If I want to look all sites, It must takes couples of days. As I am going to be a English teacher, I mostly interested in grammar, writing, storybooks and methods for teachers.

so these are my top5 (for now) :
  1. http://www.mes-english.com/flashcards/clothes.php  tools for teacher
  2. http://www.englisch-hilfen.de/en/ -vocaburay
  3. http://www.loyalbooks.com/       -ebook with audio
  4. http://www.azargrammar.com/   -grammar
  5. http://englishpage.com/  writing
These sites are found very very useful for me, As full time busy English teacher, It must be hard to prepare or make workout sheets or bingo sheets resource, or if I would think, I do not have good artistic hands, we 100% need this 1. site. AND its pretty as well.
I envy English native people who are really good at reading story book with wonderful voices and pronunciation. I don't know how they are capable with reading. So, I liked the NO.3 website because doesnt need to pay for books and it has audio! I am going to listen and practice reading. fingers cross!
Apart from the learningcall website,
I would recommend the TED TALK https://www.ted.com/ website. For those who are upper intermediate level or adults. It helps in many ways at the same time. Like having diversity of other fields ( background knowledge) or improving listening skills and this website provides scripts and subtitles in many languages. Moreover, this also gives us higher English level and more practical.

#11 shared resources

1.http://www.eslprintables.com/
After I looked over some shared resource sites on our Tesol program blog,
I found this eslprintables's website very useful so, with pleasure, I happily registered
But! I couldn't download any materials UNTIL I earn some points from the site.
In near future, I definitely give some contribution to this website then I would get this
wonderful teaching resources.

2.https://en.islcollective.com/
This website has lots lots of teaching methods, like above, I captured this pic above, I can choose levels, material types or grammar, it leads me to teaching ideas and various
topics which related to what I want to teach to students.

Like the left pic, this is the type of grammar
with story time related. I liked this resource because ,, for the opening, with students, we can start with talking then reminding the story together so they are able to work out the past tense verbs with dragging their interests. I can't wait to use this methods to my future students!

A reflection #9

After watching Sugata Mitra Ted video.

When I read the title of SOLE ,I was curious and wondered what does mean by that.
I had to watched it for 2 times, because it was hard to understand for me, this context
; I never heard before this kinds of education system. Maybe, I am not sure that wethere
I fully understand what Sugata Mitra telling. Mostly, He is saying that Even though children have not
any basic background or knowledge, they can find out the solution by using computers, well, it's not all about the networking but they are workin together and figure out how to use it or operate and they
worked hard to show other similar ages children how it works. So, What Sugata Mitra's research is that if we can make a learning environment, actually children can learn bythemselves, yes, some difficults subjects or learing other language are hard to get achieve but They can do it
Its all matter of time. Still they remarkably understand and learning.
While I was watching the video, one statement caught my eyes and ears.
That is "If children have interest, then education happens."
Since the past and presents, all educations are basically fixed and divied to two groups; one is educationed and the other is non educationed. I think that this happend because of children
can not find any interests on education. As I am going to be a Teacher,, First thing that I very look closer to students and think harder to give my students to be able to study bythemselves and give
interests on any new studies. One other my goal will be,, like Sugata Mitra, still, in our world, many
children can not have any education so I would want to help them out.. This is really unfair to them
They can have better futures and have a dreams.

Mid-term exam

#1.
I think, the most applicable topic we've covered for my language learning and teaching will be MOTIVATION. There are some reasons to support my thinking. Firstly, most of human beings are living on highly motivations. If we do not have any reasons for living in universe, then there's no reason for living. In addition to humans are created by finding motivations through their whole lives and humans are the motivators themselves. During an adolescent period,  they look for first motivation as I put it that way. It must be  difficult to interest in other language but if I can find for them, their motivation will be equally apply to their likes or favourites. Then, that will brings up higher productivity in their works. Even though, they only care about the grades, I can use most of it in order to they find English easy or choose English for future relevant  jobs. To take a very simple case, when I was 12 years old, unfamiliar subject was rejected by me, I really hated that subject but the teacher gave me a courage and started to little compliment to me even though I was not good at it. Then I started to have interests and work hard with good results from the subject. Finally, I became a honor of that subject in our class, I was very pleased with it. When I help the motive of my students action then I would be more happier then ever.

#2.
As soon as I become a English teacher in near future, I can not wait to use learning styles to my future students! To know my students little bit better, In my first day of class, I would like to use the Myers-Brigg test. The reason is that students will find out quite interesting to know what's their preferences and personalities types. My obligation towards to my students is to have fun in my class and get credits of it. According to Tesia Marshik statement, there are no certain right learning styles in order to learn effectively. I might agree with what she said but I am not going to use just one fixed learning style to one student. As we all know, we all have different intelligences so I would rather use all varieties of 9 learning styles to develop students’ intelligences. Personally, I do not think that we do have fixed personalities, especially for young learners. Therefore, my teaching curriculum will be use kinesthetic style by studying movements or using origami and for some week after, I probably use verbal-linguistic by sing English songs or role plays to develop their language skills and interests in language. The reason why I have these plans so far; I have not had many teaching experiences but when I was teaching reading to 11 years old student, I used only a lecture style like a boring block style of teaching,That ended up the elementary poor student found out boring of my teaching and her mother told and asked me to change something in her tutoring. I had to worked out and finding out new teaching styles and thinking over and over that how could I teach her in enjoyable study? Luckily, I had to get some advices from my English teacher. When we were reading a book, we listened to related song to our book and little bit of talking about the book. Also we played game with new vocabularies to memorize herself. Finally, She had interest in my teaching and liked to read English book. I could see her improvement and I was very happy about that.

Week#4 discussion about Motivation

WHEN I read this question 'WHEN DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE doing your thing'
I had to think harder then I thought. I fully do not know me or true me, and thinking,,, what are things that I can do or feel comfortable on doing it??

Since I came to university,, maybe if i put up my excuses,,, )) I really reckon that I had no chance or time to spend my times,, Had to go back my past or bring back my friends sayings about me what I can better than others. Make all things up and it went mostly arts or musics or making plans/ arrangements. I really miss my piano which my adorable mother gave it to my cousin. it was reaally pissed me off but I handled it now.

Mostly very important thing is BURNOUT as teacher..
if I could be a teacher, I really need to handle well on massive stresses or decreasing motivations.
These days, we may all know that teachers not intend to hurt students or quit this job , it is all matter on burnout... I reallllllly realllllly hope that I can handle my feelings. Don't want to became ashes..

"Can you be a good parent?"

“Do you think you can be good parents without any knowledge?” I strongly think that most people could not answer this question with confidence. A majority of people may see online, parents ask basic knowledge about their children. For that reason, a parental education class should be legally required because it gives right knowledge of child caring, helps married couples relationship and reduces child abuse.

First of all, we often could hear about children’s tragic accidents caused by parents’ lack of childcare knowledge these days on the News such as ‘Mother killed baby for her reckless child care skills’. For example, I watched a TV show called “Oh My Baby”. A father with three years old baby girl grabbed her feet and held her upside down and started to shake her. After a doctor watched and warned the father not to ever do it again in order to protect her fragile toddler brain.

Secondly, when two different people start to live together, they may well have arguments between each other. In addition, It is very different roles between couples and wife or husband. When they become parents, they considerably would take more responsibilities in order to lead a family. For those reasons, parents will have a lot of stresses and different opinions. So that couples' misunderstandings are piled up. Moreover, they have no idea to how to solve relationship between them to start over and understanding each other. That could end up to divorced and become single parents.

Lastly, according to Ministry of Health and Welfare, 80 percent of  child abusers are parents.
Most parents do not intend to hurt their children. They may simply not have known how to care of their own children. Nevertheless, if parents attend the parental training, they would learn how to love their children and to communicate with them. On the other hand, if parents could not aware of their roles then they would easily end up child abuse. If the violence intensity persists, children would be scarred by unforgettable emotional heart wounds.

To sum up, if we would not take a good education on parenting or whatsoever, we could not be aware of danger signals by our children. Anyone who has irreplaceable sons and daughters or begins to have own family as couples,  should need to know how to care of children right-mindedly, overcome a marital discord and do not cause irreversible damage to the relationship between you and your children.

#3 A reflection on discussions

I really in love with children , Everytime I look them as so adorable babies.
The reason why I love them is by just fansicnate to see how they growing and take in everythings around them moreover, they are showing new things to us and their eyes are so shining themselves. Moreover we give children love and growing themselves.
I have two baby cousins, they are 3 and 5 years old boys. Oviously, their first language is Korean. They have a command of some stuctured sentences that means they are learning and more absorb languages into their brains. Couple of months ago, my auntie wanted me to talk in English to them so I did, and as soon as they heard and making funny faces at me and I asked them to follow what I said but they ignored me.... One day, I picked them up from kindergaten and listened a disney song called "Let it go". This song was very popular song and it was the time that I fell into that song, I was starting to sing in English . Surprisingly, they were starting to sing after me !!!! I wish I could record the cutiest moment...:-(  From this incident, I learned something from it. Most children who starting to learn second language then that will be really difficult but when we teach them into using fun method in order to get interests. The key point it that to grab their attentions. After my group members talked over and it made me to dig more and study more about children's developments.

What materials, tools, and/or sites have been most useful to you as a language learner?

I would like to tell some good methods to learn language!
They are all my under experiences it may not suit for you to acheive but worth to try ~
1. Listening to English music that you like and listen over and over again But it is important that
should choose easy one which means that a song , you can understand everything in words.
2. Start to read very basic story book  like baby story book in step by step, it helps you to build
    standards vocabularies at begining.
3. Listening and watching TED TALK ,  it a website that many differents nationalites and fields give
a speech about 15mins to 1 hour. They have subtitles in Korean and English. We can study with
   them.

#2 Teaching methods - answer&questions

Can you think of times when you learned language by the different historical approaches...

*Grammar Translation Methods.
I remembered the time when I was 5th grade in elementary school, my mother sent me to a horrible grammar institution. we used a thick book and inside of book, i found a full of black letters. The teacher taught us by old style grammar teaching. Most times i fell into sleep, I could not help myself. I did not improve any English grammar skills.

*Audiolingual
I still remember the name of academy , it was like more than 14 years ago!!!!
It was called "Let's go" which was very sensation at that time. When I went inside at first time, there was about 10 computers and students were all sitting with headphones on and looking at the screens.
After we all listened ,
teachers checked whether we had done properly or not. Honestly, I think this teaching method was not good at all. Students couldn't understand fully and concentrate.

*Communicative Language Teaching
Which have you experienced the most?
I had a speaking tutor who married with a Newzealander and she was most like a native speaker.
At first class, I really uncomfortable her teaching style. I couldn't open my mouth, because I knew that I was at very poor level of speaking in English. Her method were a piece of paper, a pen and cassette tape and recorder. She pressed the ON button and starting the greeting mentions and daily talks. During the recording, she wrote down expressions , idioms and phrase verbs while we talking which I wanted to say during conversation with her. That really helped me to get close to "SPEAKER".

Give examples of activities that fit into the different methods
I just want to combine all these three learning style onto one! WHICH is a
" Making a own short story!"
Firstly , I teach one basic grammar in step by step and do some exercises to make sure they understand then write any kinds of story with using the forms of grammar which they learned;
story could leads us to massive imagination which I strongly important about.
Moreover, It will be more
practical , actually students can use how to put their words into right place while using own sentences.
Then, I collect them and making corrections. Lastly, I ask them to read out to partner or to whole class.!!

How do you (will you) balance these approaches as a teacher???
UM.... This always will be my consideration, more and more to think.
However, for starter, I think that
I need to look over my future students's level and features so that I can make a proper curriculum for them. Sometimes, I give them fun and serious during the class.
If I always give them a good treats then they would be not focus on studies. I really hope that they found my class effective and joy-able.

The 1st day of Tesol class - my reflection on our discussion.

Always! exciting and thrilling about 1st day of class
It was all new about learning on theoretical on acquisition second language.
especially my class talked over on Krashen;s Theories.

Before the discussion, we watched the Krashen's short video. He was telling us very new thing that we might couldn't think about it by myself. I thought he's very cleaver. I wonder i could ever think like him.

I thought learning a new language is just about learning so they can speak BUT his theory pointed out! that Learning is just about putting in our head that means could be like when your mother shouting at you and you listening to her like go through your right ear to your left ear. Taking not seriously. But on the other hand, Acquisition is very different than learning. If we want to speak properly, we should acquisition. So that we apply to various on a new language.
