#3 A reflection on discussions

I really in love with children , Everytime I look them as so adorable babies.
The reason why I love them is by just fansicnate to see how they growing and take in everythings around them moreover, they are showing new things to us and their eyes are so shining themselves. Moreover we give children love and growing themselves.
I have two baby cousins, they are 3 and 5 years old boys. Oviously, their first language is Korean. They have a command of some stuctured sentences that means they are learning and more absorb languages into their brains. Couple of months ago, my auntie wanted me to talk in English to them so I did, and as soon as they heard and making funny faces at me and I asked them to follow what I said but they ignored me.... One day, I picked them up from kindergaten and listened a disney song called "Let it go". This song was very popular song and it was the time that I fell into that song, I was starting to sing in English . Surprisingly, they were starting to sing after me !!!! I wish I could record the cutiest moment...:-(  From this incident, I learned something from it. Most children who starting to learn second language then that will be really difficult but when we teach them into using fun method in order to get interests. The key point it that to grab their attentions. After my group members talked over and it made me to dig more and study more about children's developments.

What materials, tools, and/or sites have been most useful to you as a language learner?

I would like to tell some good methods to learn language!
They are all my under experiences it may not suit for you to acheive but worth to try ~
1. Listening to English music that you like and listen over and over again But it is important that
should choose easy one which means that a song , you can understand everything in words.
2. Start to read very basic story book  like baby story book in step by step, it helps you to build
    standards vocabularies at begining.
3. Listening and watching TED TALK ,  it a website that many differents nationalites and fields give
a speech about 15mins to 1 hour. They have subtitles in Korean and English. We can study with
   them.

#2 Teaching methods - answer&questions

Can you think of times when you learned language by the different historical approaches...

*Grammar Translation Methods.
I remembered the time when I was 5th grade in elementary school, my mother sent me to a horrible grammar institution. we used a thick book and inside of book, i found a full of black letters. The teacher taught us by old style grammar teaching. Most times i fell into sleep, I could not help myself. I did not improve any English grammar skills.

*Audiolingual
I still remember the name of academy , it was like more than 14 years ago!!!!
It was called "Let's go" which was very sensation at that time. When I went inside at first time, there was about 10 computers and students were all sitting with headphones on and looking at the screens.
After we all listened ,
teachers checked whether we had done properly or not. Honestly, I think this teaching method was not good at all. Students couldn't understand fully and concentrate.

*Communicative Language Teaching
Which have you experienced the most?
I had a speaking tutor who married with a Newzealander and she was most like a native speaker.
At first class, I really uncomfortable her teaching style. I couldn't open my mouth, because I knew that I was at very poor level of speaking in English. Her method were a piece of paper, a pen and cassette tape and recorder. She pressed the ON button and starting the greeting mentions and daily talks. During the recording, she wrote down expressions , idioms and phrase verbs while we talking which I wanted to say during conversation with her. That really helped me to get close to "SPEAKER".

Give examples of activities that fit into the different methods
I just want to combine all these three learning style onto one! WHICH is a
" Making a own short story!"
Firstly , I teach one basic grammar in step by step and do some exercises to make sure they understand then write any kinds of story with using the forms of grammar which they learned;
story could leads us to massive imagination which I strongly important about.
Moreover, It will be more
practical , actually students can use how to put their words into right place while using own sentences.
Then, I collect them and making corrections. Lastly, I ask them to read out to partner or to whole class.!!

How do you (will you) balance these approaches as a teacher???
UM.... This always will be my consideration, more and more to think.
However, for starter, I think that
I need to look over my future students's level and features so that I can make a proper curriculum for them. Sometimes, I give them fun and serious during the class.
If I always give them a good treats then they would be not focus on studies. I really hope that they found my class effective and joy-able.

The 1st day of Tesol class - my reflection on our discussion.

Always! exciting and thrilling about 1st day of class
It was all new about learning on theoretical on acquisition second language.
especially my class talked over on Krashen;s Theories.

Before the discussion, we watched the Krashen's short video. He was telling us very new thing that we might couldn't think about it by myself. I thought he's very cleaver. I wonder i could ever think like him.

I thought learning a new language is just about learning so they can speak BUT his theory pointed out! that Learning is just about putting in our head that means could be like when your mother shouting at you and you listening to her like go through your right ear to your left ear. Taking not seriously. But on the other hand, Acquisition is very different than learning. If we want to speak properly, we should acquisition. So that we apply to various on a new language.
